Editorial Review for Shark Valley – by Jennifer Osorio Kissell
In Short
This 15-mile paved trail through the sawgrass prairie of the Everglades is a great introduction to the park's quiet majesty. You can walk the trail, take the tram tour or bike it. The creation of the trail led to artificial ponds and canals that have become gathering places for a large amount of wildlife, from gators to many varieties of birds. Bring your binoculars for bird-watching, although the canal that runs next to the trail is close enough that you'll feel like you can touch some birds. At the end of the trail, you'll be at the observation tower where you can gaze at out the River of Grass for as long as you like.
