Editorial Review for Suite one8one – by Marcia Gagliardi
The Scene
This swanky Tenderloin lounge is replete with wispy curtains, fresh flowers and dim candlelight. Long sofas and ottomans complete the clubby, modern vibe. A bumping-and-grinding crowd flashes midriffs and toned biceps while ordering drinks named after famous hotels at either indoor bar. For a breather, the spiffy hideaway boasts a huge, sunken outdoor patio with heat lamps and piped-in beats.
The Draw
The club is all about doing "the city thing" and draws crowds on the weekend, with velvet rope, headsets and bouncers in effect. Instead of rotating many promoters, the club sticks with resident DJs spinning mixed formats with an emphasis on hip-hop. This is one of the few clubs in the city that offers bottle service. The beats and bubbles keep the well-heeled crowd going till the wee hours on a tight dance floor.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoA VIP table reservation means no waiting in line and no entry fee for up to four guests with each bottle purchase.
ParkingThe neighborhood is sketchy, but the lot next door can get expensive (if there's a special event nearby, it can run $15-$20). Other options: Find a cheaper lot a couple blocks away or take a taxi.

Before going to a birthday party here I looked at the picture of this place online. I was impressed, it looked like a great time and maybe it could have been, but.... It started with a huge line and we got there at 9:30, which is early in the SF club scene. We had to wait in line for a half hour and the bouncer almost charged us $20, but he finally found our name on the party list(where the birthday girl spent a lot of money to get a table and bottle service). Inside the staff is not better at all. The bar tenders are rude and the patio managers are awful. On the up side the music is good and the decor was really cool, I just couldn't shake off the rude people.
Pros: Music
Cons: STAFF! waiting, cover

Suite 181 is a NO NO!! Guys are gross and sweaty yet think they are God's gift-WAY too hot (upstairs and downstairs)-Class factor = zero. One star for the staff- they are pretty nice. IF you must ignore me and my review and go anyway you must get on the guestlist so you can get in for free or you will not be a happy camper!!! Really, you will need to shower as soon as you leave, grimey!!!
Pros: Sorry, none.
Cons: Take your pick
